Book author and celebrated fly-fishing writer Dave Hughes joins Fly Rod & Reel as a columnist, beginning with the magazine’s Summer 2010 issue. In truth, it’s a return to the magazine, as Hughes wrote the “Fly-Fishing Success” column for FR&R in the 1990s and early 2000s. The new column is called “Practical & Useful” and will cover fly-fishing advice and tips of practical value to anglers.“After eight years wandering in the wilderness, it’s great to be back to my favorite magazine, and to doing my favorite thing: going fishing, coming home, writing about what happened out there,” Hughes says. “It’s a privilege to return to being a part of what I consider the greatest gathering of the finest writers in fly-fishing: they’re thoughtful and brilliant and great fishermen, so they know about what they write about, but above all, they’re all, to me, excellent writers, and the best writers have always been my heroes.” FR&R’s columnists and regular writers include John Gierach, Ted Williams, Chico Fernandez, A. K. Best, Seth Norman, Ted Leeson, Buzz Bryson, Darrel Martin and Greg Thomas, among others.
