Sage Manufacturing Raises Large Sum for Trout Unlimited Alaska

May 6, 2010 (Bainbridge Island, WA) – Sage Manufacturing has been deeply involved with raising money and awareness for a campaign to save the Bristol Bay in Alaska from open-pit and hard rock mine development. Throughout Sage’s involvement, over $100,000 was donated for Trout Unlimited Alaska.

“We strongly believe that our efforts to raise money for Trout Unlimited Alaska will help fight the mining development in this very special region of Alaska,” says Marc Bale, Director of Sales. “Sage’s dedication to conservation in Bristol Bay exemplifies our belief in protecting this along with other beautiful places for generations of outdoorsman to come.”

Early on, Sage aligned with other fly fishing companies to speak out against the development of Pebble Mine at the headwaters of Bristol Bay. In addition to the over $80,000 Sage (along with Redington Tackle & Apparel and RIO Products) raised selling special fly fishing outfits last year, the company recently raised $2880 through the sales of its Save the Bristol Bay Hat thanks to $5 being donated from every sale.

“The partnership between Sage and TU Alaska has been critical in raising money for scientific field work yielding new information about the presence of salmon in and around the proposed Pebble Mine Site,” says Tim Bristol, head of Trout Unlimited Alaska. “These funds also helped build strong ties to other Bristol Bay stakeholder groups crucial to talking with key decision makers. We are deeply grateful for their support and the support of Sage’s customers who purchased the outfits and hats.”
