The election process has come to a close and the results have been tallied. On behalf of the current AFFTA board and the general membership, we would like to thank each candidate for volunteering to serve. With 28 applicants and only 9 available positions, this was by far the most competitive election AFFTA has ever experienced. Making things even tougher, the association’s commitment to maintain diversity with its board further limited opportunities with some of the industry categories. As is outlined in the association’s bylaws, 2 members from each industry category must be appointed to the board prior to filling at-large seats. As you will see in the summary below, 4 of the available board positions were filled first to maintain industry diversity. After this, only 5 additional seats were available to the remaining 24 candidates.

Congratulations to all! This is a dynamic time in the fly fishing business and each one of the people will play a critical role in shaping our industry for years to come.
It is worth mentioning that more than 50% of AFFTA members participated in this year’s election. This is an incredible turnout for any election and a clear demonstration that the association is more active than even as we reinvent the fly fishing trade during these challenging economic times. We are excited about the future and look forward to kicking off the year with everyone at the new International Fly Tackle Dealer Show this coming month!
