VENTURA, Calif. (FEBRUARY, 2011) — Patagonia Inc., the outdoor apparel company, announces the launch of a brand new 60-piece Fly Fishing collection for the Spring 2011 season. In line with Patagonia’s environmental ethos, 66% of the line is now recyclable through Patagonia’s Common Threads Recycling Program.
Premiering in February 2011, Patagonia’s sportswear collection boasts 12 brand new styles, ranging from lightweight sun protective clothing, to woven tops that work on and off the water. Brand new bottoms, outerwear, and t-shirt designs top off the new collection. Ther are updates and revisions to styles such as the Sunshade and Island Hopper products.
“Spring 2011 is classic season for Patagonia in that it brings together the finest-performing fabrics with clean, timeless designs,” notes Bart Bonime, Director of Fishing, “The collection provides anglers with the absolute best in functional, durable, comfortable clothing for in-the-field use, or en route to their destination.”
In technical knits, the new Tropic Comfort Sun Hoody/Crew and the Graphic Technical Fish Tee represent the latest in fabric and design technology to provide serious comfort in hot weather. The fabric looks and feels like cotton, but is in fact a polyester jersey that wicks moisture, resists snagging and dries in a flash. New woven tops include the Cool Shade Shirt and Chaa Creek Shirt. The Cool Shade Shirt is made from a recycled polyester/nylon blend and provides 40-UPF sun protection. Features include a vented back and stealth double front fly box zip pockets, all with clean and modern style. The Chaa Creek Shirt is your classic summer fishing shirt, made from a soft and durable hemp/organic cotton blend that is highly breathable. New for bottoms are the Tropical Flats Pants and Shorts. The fabric is an ultralight nylon/spandex blend that dries in a flash, never restricts movement and provides 30-UPF sun protection. With new features such as a snap-up pocket that allows for an unprecedented level of venting and cooling, these are sure to be a favorite new bottom.
All products will be available in February 2011 online at www.patagonia.com, and through Patagonia retailers.
About Patagonia
Patagonia, with sales last year of over $330M, is noted internationally for its commitment to product quality and environmental activism. Incorporating environmental responsibility in to product development, the company has, since 1996, used only organically grown cotton in its clothing line. With its most recent launch of synthetic fiber-to-fiber recycling, Patagonia is taking back worn-out polyester and nylon clothing and reincarnating it as new products, forever capturing the raw materials used in making virgin fiber. The company also advocates corporate transparency through its interactive website, The Footprint Chronicles, which outlines the environmental and social footprint of individual products. Patagonia was featured as The Coolest Company on the Planet on Fortune Magazine’s April 2007 cover.
