Angling Trade and the American Fly Fishing Trade Association, organizer of the International Fly Tackle Dealer trade show planned for New Orleans August 18-20, 2011, are announcing award categories for the “New Product Showcase” section of IFTD.

Best Outerwear
Best Youth-Specific Product
Best Women’s-Specific Product
Best Eco-Friendly Product
Best Rods – Freshwater & Saltwater
Best Reels – Freshwater & Saltwater
Best Personal Watercraft
Best Fly Lines – Freshwater & Saltwater
Best Fly Boxes/Storage System
Best Fly Tying/ Materials/Equipment
Best New Fly Pattern – Freshwater & Saltwater
Best Accessory (Dressings, Tools, etc.)
Best General Apparel
“We think it’s best to offer a wide range of categories to encourage more participation from all companies, and give the niche manufacturer an opportunity to earn the limelight,” said Angling Trade editor Kirk Deeter. “We might even choose to add another category or two based on feedback we get from retailers before the show, but this is a solid foundation that encompasses most of the fly fishing market.”
The New Product Showcase will occupy a prominent position on the exhibit floor at IFTD. Awards will be voted on by attending retailers and media. Only products from ITFD exhibitors are eligible for consideration. Awards will be presented on Friday evening, before the final day of the show (that way attendees can see winners on the exhibit floor on Saturday).
