BOZEMAN, MONT. – Four teams of filmmakers will take their cameras to the cool spring waters of Montana later this month doing their best to capture the intrepid lifestyle of the fly fishing guide.
The filmmakers will be capturing images and telling video stories as part of the Simms 2012 Shoot Out videography contest, a film-making competition held in conjunction with Simms Fishing Products’ third annual “Simms ICE OUT Event,” an April 19-21 workshop designed specifically for fishing guides.
Vying for the $2,000 first prize, the four teams of filmmakers will start shooting on April 16, anywhere in the Big Sky State. Finished films – no more than six minutes in length – will be premiered the evening of April 19 at Bozeman’s Wilson Auditorium. There, the audience – which will be guides attending ICE OUT – will pick the winner.
“It’s a daunting challenge to shoot, edit and produce a short fishing movie in a limited time frame,” said Diane Bristol, Director of Marketing and Service for Simms. “I’m always amazed on the quality and the storytelling that goes into each entry.”
Sponsored by Simms, Costa and The Drake magazine, the Shootout will feature the work of these four crews:
Fishbite Media, out of Boise, Idaho.
Detonation Studios out of Bozeman.
Raw Water Productions from Buffalo, New York .
Swift Current Productions from East Glacier, Montana.
Once ICE OUT concludes, the four films will be showcased online, where the public will have the chance to vote for their favorite.
