Turneffe Flats owner Craig Hayes recently announced that the Belize resort had earned a much-coveted Green Globe Sustainable Tourism certification. To earn Green Globe certification for sustainable tourism, members are required to have the highest standards for energy and water usage, minimize waste and positively contribute to local communities and their local environment. As a charter member of 1% For The Planet, Turneffe Flats has been a conservation leader in Belize for several decades and recently led efforts to establish Turneffe Atoll as Belize’s largest Marine Reserve. Located 30 miles off the coast of Belize on the Central American nation’s Turneffe Atoll, Turneffe Flats provides fly fishing, scuba diving and marine eco-tourism activities.
