From Waterworks-Lamson:
New Lamson Liquid: We are excited to introduce the new Liquid reel, our first at the $99 price point. When we started creating Liquid, we focused purely on the virtues and advantages a pressure-cast process can offer. Structurally you can do things with casting that you can’t machine, such as full radiused compound curves, near zero-radius inside corners, and for precise fit and finish you can go back and machine the cast part in critical areas amplifying the best aspects of the process.
Liquid boasts our tried and true, fully sealed conical drag system. While the high quality castings are imported, the components integral to the drag system are CNC-machined here in the US. Liquid is a true large arbor reel that maximizes line speed recovery and minimizes line coil memory.
Liquid reels are assembled in Boise alongside our highest priced reels. No other $100 reel can boast this much U.S. content and quality oversight. Enjoy the best of all worlds, including the best of Idaho, USA.
Liquid retails at $99.95 in line weights 3/4 and 5/6; $109.95 in a 7/8 weight and $129.95 in a 9/10 weight. Look for Liquid starting September, 2014.
Also new for 2015, is the Liquid 3-pack. The 3-pack is an extreme value; it includes one reel and two spare spools in a nylon carrying case all for the price of one reel and one spool. This new product offers beneficial interchangeability at ease for the multi-faceted angler.
New Lamson Remix: A fusion between the free-form structures of a cast spool and the mechanical integrity of a CNC-machined case, Remix is a hybrid.
The case, CNC-machined here in the U.S. from 6061 bar-stock aluminum, delivers maximum structural rigidity and durability all wrapped in a harder, brighter finish. The spool, compatible with the Liquid’s, is pressure cast with radiused compound curves, near zero-radius inside corners and a precise fit and finish. It has a U-shape arbor and narrow format to aid in line control.
Remix brings together the best of CNC machining and pressure-cast technologies to deliver an unprecedented level of quality for a bit more than $150. In addition to the US-made case, all critical drag components are CNC-machined here in the U.S. And like Liquid, Remix reels are assembled in Boise by our skilled and experienced team. The result of this Remix? High performance, reliability, quality assurance and sex appeal.
Remix will be offered at $159.95 for 3/4 weight and 5/6 weight sizes; $169.95 in a 7/8 weight and $169.95 in a 9/10 weight. Coming to a fly shop near you in August, 2014.
Also new for 2015 are color sleeves that fit both Remix and Liquid. Color sleeves fit over the cassette and allow for customization in three shades: Salsa Green, Coral Blue and Burnt Orange. Color sleeves retail at $9.95.
From Ryan Harrison, Managing Partner: “With Liquid & Remix we set out to accomplish a few very important objectives. First and foremost: give the flyfisher a better $99 reel, or a better $150 reel than any other alternative. Liquid and Remix are built with the same silk-smooth sealed conical drag that we use on all our higher-priced reels. No other value-priced reel can offer the same proven performance, quality and reliability that we build into every Liquid and Remix reel.
A second important objective was to maximize U.S. manufacturing content. If you look at competitive value-priced reels, they are sourced turnkey from Asia with Brand X stamped on. We believe that fly fishermen, given a choice at this price, would rather buy a quality U.S.-made reel than one that is manufactured and assembled in China or Korea. Both Liquid and Remix have majority-U.S. manufacturing content, including U.S. CNC-machined precision drag parts and in the case of Remix, a U.S. CNC-machined frame.
Finally, Liquid and Remix reels are assembled here in Idaho by the same skilled crew that builds Vanquish, Force, Litespeed, Speedster and Guru reels. This ensures that Liquid and Remix reels meet the same high standards of fit and function we’re famous for.
With this combination we believe that Liquid and Remix set a new standard at value price points.”
