Assistant Lodge Manager

Madison Valley Ranch is seeking a dynamic Assistant Lodge Manager (ALM). The ALM will serve as host at breakfast, accommodating all guest requests (starting around 6:00AM), introduce anglers to fishing guides, and process check outs for departing guests. They will also have numerous office responsibilities, including overseeing the retail and beverage programs, tracking reservation reports, assisting with booking reservations, implementing consistent quality standards in  guest rooms, and many other various tasks such as rigging fly rods and shipping/receiving. Once a week, the ALM will serve as the manager on duty, covering the Lodge Manager’s day off and hosting dinner with guests.

The ALM must be friendly, organized, detail-oriented, and reliable. Ability to multitask independently and to respond to stressful situations in a calm and professional manner is a must. Position requires high levels of responsibility; applicants should possess strong communication and management skills.  The ALM will be responsible for implementing high standards of quality in guest rooms and lodge common areas.

The Madison Valley Ranch is an all-inclusive fly fishing lodge located minutes from Ennis, Montana, and an hour’s drive from Bozeman. It is the perfect spot for anyone who loves the outdoors and small town living. Experience with fly fishing is not required but would be valuable in the position.

Room and Board

We have a high-end private home available for use by employees. Based on availability, rooms will be either single or double occupancy with a shared bath. The furnished home offers a full kitchen, four bedrooms, three bathrooms, small office area, living room, dining area, washer/dryer, wireless internet, satellite television. It is located approximately two and a half miles from the lodge, so a bike or vehicle would be ideal.

A $500 deposit is required upfront and returned when you depart at the end of the season, assuming room is in good condition upon departure. Lodging is charged at $250 per month, and this can be deducted from your paycheck or paid in advance. A nearby grocery store is available for purchasing food to prepare in the house’s kitchen.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Driving your personal vehicle to Ennis is highly recommended. This will allow you the freedom to explore the town and surrounding areas and maximize your experience in Southwest Montana.

The lodge is located 2.5 miles from the employee house – a vehicle is recommended or an off-road bike for the dirt road would suffice.

For Fun

The location of Madison Valley Ranch makes it an outdoor enthusiast’s dream! Fly fishing the world-famous Madison River is a must-do, as is visiting Yellowstone National Park in the summer to see the bison, elk, bears, wolves, bald eagles, and more. There are numerous hiking trails nearby and mountains to summit, if you are the adventurous type.

The small town of Ennis offers many antique shops, locally-owned restaurants, farmers markets and farm dinners, boutique shops, a fitness center, hospital, grocery store – pretty much everything you need! The locals are a friendly mix of young couples, old ranchers, mule deer, antelope, and everything in between.
