From Simms:
Not resting on their record-setting performance at last years’ International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST) and International Fly Tackle Dealer (IFTD) shows, Simms once again sets its sights on unleashing two seasonal innovative product launches at this year’s shows in Orlando, Fla.
The company brings to Florida new gear offerings across multiple categories, including outerwear, sportswear, footwear, footwear, waders, and accessories. “Continuing the momentum from last year, our Product Team has delivered another impressive series of new gear for the avid angler,” says Simms President K.C. Walsh.
For Spring 2016, Simms brings to market a new line of boat-ready footwear. Based on their Right Angle™ Footbed technology, three models of shoes developed for fishing will be unveiled. Right Angle™ technology properly aligns the angler’s foot, making all-day deck fishing comfortable. The Currents Shoe combines a seamless TPU welded upper with quick-dry mesh that resists water retention. Easily adjustable via a bungie lacing closure, the Currents Shoe is the company’s lightest offering in the category. The Westshore Shoe and Westshore Slip On Shoe have a washed canvas upper and, combined with Right Angle™ Footbed technology, allow for all-day comfort and support.
In wading footwear, Simms unleashes the first-ever made-for-wet-wading Intruder Boot. Available with Vibram® Megagrip rubber outsole and felt, the Intruder features an integrated neoprene sock to block debris. The boot is designed to be worn barefoot or with Simms neoprene wading or guard socks. The completely redesigned Headwaters™ Boot (available with Vibram® Idrogrip outsole or felt) is engineered for reliable wading performance with its high denier nylon upper and dual-density midsole. For the saltwater angler, Simms leverages the success of its Vapor Boot with the introduction of the new VaporTread® Boot – Salt. Constructed of waterproof synthetic leather, TPU textile and rubber upper, the VaporTread® Boot – Salt is the perfect boot when wading gets tough in salt environments.
Simms continues its reign as the preeminent manufacturer of fishing outerwear with the introduction of the Simms Vapor Elite™ Jacket and Simms Vapor Elite™ Pant. Constructed of 3-layer GORE-TEX® C-KNIT™ fabric technology, the Simms Vapor Elite Jacket is 10% lighter and 15% more breathable than other GORE-TEX® Shell laminates. Combined with the Simms Vapor Elite Pant—constructed of 3-layer GORE-TEX® Pro Shell—the rain jacket and pant stow easily, provide maximum waterproof protection and are perfect to keep anglers fishing despite turbulent weather.
In Sportswear, Simms delivers new products designed for the serious angler. Leading the line are the new Arapaima Pant and Arampaima Short—part of the company’s pinnacle G4 Collection. Simms also welcomes a new line of BugStopper™ sportswear (BugStopper LS Shirt, BugStopper™ Tech LS Tee, BugStopper™ Pant, BugStopper™ SunShield Hat, BugStopper™ SunGaiter and BugStopper™ SunGlove) utilizing Insect Shield® repellent technology for long-lasting, effective and convenient personal insect protection. Other sportswear highlights include a new line of Tech Tees and four new styles in the brand’s Solarflex® collection for maximum sun protection (UPF50).
Simms new Waypoints™ Packs coordinate space, storage, and weight-carry like no other fishing packs, allowing the angler endless freedom to explore fishing locales. The line includes the Waypoints Backpack – LG (30L) and Waypoints Backpack – SM (20L). Both are constructed of 420D nylon and incorporate an ultra-lightweight aluminum frame, removable waistband and vented back panel. The Waypoints Sling Pack also comes in two sizes and store gear conveniently for anglers thanks to the packs’ U-shaped opening. The new Waypoints Hip Pack utilizes an aluminum frame for better load and carry with a compression molded work bench and interior divider for ample gear storage and organization. Finally, the Waypoints Chest Pack features an adjustable on-shoulder harness system, compression molded work bench and interior gear storage. The pack’s Catch & Release attachment integrates with the Waypoints Backpacks.
Simms’ women’s line of fishing apparel receives its most ambitious update ever. The new Women’s Currents Shoe and Women’s Clearwater Sandal feature Right Angle™ Footbed technology with quick-dry mesh for deck-ready action. The Women’s Hyalite Rain Shell is a 2.5 layer rain shell that is 100% seam sealed for lightweight waterproof protection. The Women’s Sportswear line sees 6 new styles for 2016, led by the innovative Women’s Pro Reina LS Shirt featuring a nylon/spandex fabric technology with COR3™ (wicking, odor management and UPF) technology.
For the traveling angler, Simms newest line of Bounty Hunter luggage anticipates the needs of the destination angler. The Bounty Hunter 100 Roller offers maximum capacity along with lockable integrated rod tube storage and clamshell design for better access to gear. The Bounty Hunter Carry-On fits most airline size regulations for carry-on travel and the Bounty Hunter 50 Duffle features backpack straps for easy carrying and 50 liters of capacity.
While ICAST and IFTD represent the industry’s first look at Spring 2016 apparel, the shows also represent the first occasion for many to witness the 2015 Fall line of gear scheduled to launch July 20, 2015. In outerwear, Simms is launched the new ProDry™ GORE-TEX® Jacket and Bib. Made of GORE-TEX® Pro Shell fabric for protection in extreme weather, the ProDry™ suit features angler-inspired storage along with features including 3-point adjustable Storm Hood and Dry Cuff™ design to lock out water. The ProDry™ GORE-TEX® Jacket & Bib are ready to take the helm as the most advanced rain kit ever for Simms.
Additional Fall 2015 outerwear include the completely redesigned Bulkley Jacket with PrimaLoft® insulation, the G3 Guide™ Jacket with 7 storage pockets for ample gear storage and tuck-away, 3-point adjustable Storm Hood and the Guide Jacket, Simms’ classic jacket updated with improved GORE-TEX® fabric.
“The new Fall line of gear—headlined with the exciting launch of the new ProDry™ GORE-TEX® Jacket & Bib—are designed for anglers of all types who need to fish without worry for impending weather,” says Brandan Hill, Sr. Director of Product. “We believe these products will cement Simms at the forefront of foul-weather fishing gear.”
The entire Simms Spring 2016 and Fall 2015 lines will be on display in Booth #659 at ICAST/IFTD, being held July 15-17 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
