Dollars earmarked to promote conservation and stewardship for fly fishing

The American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA) Fisheries Fund announced it has awarded grants to The Utah Stream Access Coalition and the Public Land / Water Access Association.  Each organization received $5,000 to support their missions.

The Utah Stream Access Coalition works to promote and assist in all aspects of securing and maintaining public access to, and use of, Utah’s public waters and stream beds   The stated mission of PLWA is to maintain, restore, and perpetuate public access to the boundaries of all Montana public land and waters.

The AFFTA Fisheries Fund was established in late 2014 with the main objective of funding organizations and projects focused on fisheries conservation and education. The Fisheries Fund is initially funded with revenue from the International Fly Tackle Dealer (IFTD) Show, and is now open to donations from AFFTA members and the general public.

AFFTA’s mission is three-fold: to grow buy xanax 2mg bars online consumer demand for fly-fishing products and services; enhance the growth and professionalism of fly-fishing businesses; and support the protection, enhancement, and restoration of fishing waters. The organization feels strongly that the Fisheries Fund is a substantial tool to both preserve and protect our resources, and to help expand the sport of fly fishing.

AFFTA Fisheries Fund Chairman Jim Klug commented, “One of the biggest challenges that threatens our sport and our industry for the future is the issue of access. Without the publics’ ability to access America’s rivers, streams and fisheries, anglers will simply stay home. Now is the time for the industry and for fly fishing business to speak up and act out for public access. AFFTA is doing exactly that by financially supporting PLWA and USAC, and we’re proud to be associated with these organizations.”
