Hot off the heels of significant changes to the their app and logo Instagram will begin rolling out updates to the business profiles which will help differentiate business profiles from users. The hope is that these new features will increase advertising sales on the app.
Business Profiles
The revised profiles will make it easier for users to contact the business by adding a contact button in the profile. The app will also allow users to get directions to the business.
User Data
The real meat of the update is the addition of insights.
Insights on Instagram give businesses actionable information about who their followers are and which posts resonate better than others—all from within the mobile app.
There is not a ton of information on what these insights will actually look like, but more data on users is always a good thing. Insights will probably feature metrics like top posts, reach, impressions and engagement around posts, as well as more data on your followers like their gender, age, and location. Think facebook insights for Instagram. Later.com has plenty of information with screenshots on what you can expect from these insights.
Simplify the Promotion Process
With all this new data at your finger tips you’ll be better informed to promote your brand on the platform. That’s the final big roll out in this latest update. Businesses will now be able to promote their brand right from the app. If you haven’t been using Instagram for marketing it might be a good time to start. Instagram now has 400 million monthly users, and the response to ads on the platform has been favorable. Some advertisers have seen click throughs at 2.5 times those of other social media networks.
These new updates will definitely allow you to better understand your followers and deliver content that is impactful. The updates should begin to roll out in the coming months. You can read the official announcement on the Instagram business blog.
