Digital Content Manager – MMN Enthusiast Group Outdoor Division

Reports to Group Publisher, Outdoor Division

 Description

This position will coordinate, curate, and manage social media and digital communications for the Morris Media Network Enthusiast Group Outdoor Division. The Outdoor Division includes Alaska Magazine, The Milepost, Gray’s Sporting Journal, American Angler and Fly Tyer. The Digital Content Manager will oversee social media for all the properties and assist with digital content management and content curation. Expert knowledge of social media ad creation, audience targeting, and analytics is essential. The position also entails the ability to incorporate related media solutions to drive traffic to and across the group’s digital landscape to improve customer experience and increase engagement.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage digital content including;
    • Manage social communities and act as voice of the brands in key social spaces
    • Create, publish and manage postings across brands and social media channels
    • Create ads and target key audiences appropriate for each title and social channel
    • Manage scheduling of posts for optimum engagement
    • Track analytics and provide reports for clients using monitoring tools such as Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Silverpop statistics and other relevant tools
    • Work closely with editorial staffs to increase social media following and engagement, as well as website traffic
    • Efficiently and effectively respond to select social media users to ensure positive engagement
    • Publish content on websites using CMS
    • Establish, maintain, and add value to repository of digital assets
    • Research, learn and execute new social media platforms when necessary
    • Drive website optimization and site traffic growth for group sites
    • Facilitate production and provide governance of brand sites
    • Stay abreast of Internet/online and social media best practices
    • Help manage proactive and reactive online, digital and communications issues
    • Assist with curation and optimization of content for e-newsletters
    • Be an advocate across the digital brands, engaging in positive, proactive brand-appropriate dialogue and answering questions/providing assistance, support and direction where appropriate

Key Skills Required:

  • Understanding and appreciation for the global Internet landscape including websites, web design and content best practices, social media, blogs, podcasts, online community destinations, etc.
  • Relevant web management and optimization experience
  • Expert knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Google+, Pinterest, SnapChat
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision, but also able to effectively work within a team

 Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in communications with a strong focus on social media.
  • Highly motivated individual with experience in writing/developing and managing social media content, corporate digital content, and related marketing solutions
  • Strong knowledge of the social media landscape
  • Web management & optimization experience
  • Knowledge of latest SEO practices.
  • Knowledge of WordPress, HTML and CSS
  • Familiarity with various photo and video editing software
  • Familiarity with email platforms such as Silverpop
  • Familiarity with fly fishing and hunting is beneficial
