The Smith Creek Rod Rack™ is the heavy-duty universal fishing-rod rack for SUV’s, Station Wagons and Vans. The innovative and patented racking system, holds seven rod and reel combinations overhead out of the way. Set up rods are easily racked and kept highly accessible. Rods and reels can be carried full length rigged-up or broken-down to fit. Fitted inside a vehicle in a minute, the system can be also rolled up and stored into its’ compact carry bag in seconds. It is a no-hassle, simple operation and convenient to use.

They’re also great for long rods and compact SUV’s. For rods longer than the interior, simply detach and double over the tip section, tension both the forward and rear shock cords to secure.

The Rod Rack design was refined over two years of field-testing with extreme prejudice.
Constructed rugged and tough. Made from two fully adjustable nylon straps with high spec custom made hardware forming two carriers equipped with a clever and patented rod retention system. Product includes two mechanical suction cup mounts and two round carabiners.

Multiple attachments options allow you to locate the rod holders where they can easily be reached. The forward carrier is attached to the above door grab handles while the rear carrier is either attached to a vehicles overhead grab handles, the rear side windows using locking suction cup mounts, or to the vehicles accessory hooks using carabiners. Months of field-testing suction cups discovered ones that work long-term. It was worth the effort as it is advantageous to be able to place the rear carrier where it’s easiest to use without having to rely on existing attachment points. The rod retention system uses a unique adjustable locking shock cord and eyelet setup that does not rely on closed loops. Conveniently and safely secure rods and reels without damaging rods, tips, ferrules and lines.

For use with SUV’s, MPV’s, Station Wagons, and Vans that have above door grab handles, rear side windows or accessory hooks, and a rear door, hatchback or tailgate. Adjustable from 36″/92cm to 76″/193cm. Adaptable to truck bed canopies and boats with four eyebolts and a little imagination, hardware not included. Not recommended for use with heavy surfcasting and game fishing outfits while using the suction cups.

Versatility. The Rod Rack can also be set up at home, shed, garage … by simply adding suitable attachment points for the rack straps.

The Rod Rack was created and designed by company founder and designer Wayne Smith.
Mr. Smith was not satisfied with his DYI strap rack or any other racks on the market, so he designed his ideal rack.

Mr. Smith comments, “My SUV does double duty as a family car and work truck so a permanent rod rack doesn’t work for me, and for lots of reasons, I don’t like exterior mounts. I wanted a serious piece of equipment that was quick and easy to fit, fast to stow and easy to use. It had to have no nonsense rod holders that safely carry my delicate fly rods but are strong enough to carry my heavier steelhead and salt water outfits. It was equally important that the rear strap not need to be mounted to a fixed fitting so it can be set up within easy reach. The system had to be efficient and tough enough for guides who will use them every day in testing conditions. Prototypes must be proven in the field so it took us over two years to refine the system. It was worth it! I believe we got it right and I’m proud of the final product.”
