Angling Trade Survey:  Does a Rod Need to Look Good to Sell Well?

• How a rod looks is almost as important as how it casts.  It’s a huge factor.  I sell a lot of mediocre rods based on how they look, and some great rods don’t sell like they should because they don’t p
• Looks are completely irrelevant… it’s all about the performance.
• It matters, but not a whole lot. It’s a “tiebreaker.” I think a few consumers might opt for one rod over another if everything else is equal, but they like the aesthetics of one option more.
• Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what one person thinks is really sharp, the next person thinks is not. Impossible to say.  I don’t ever think about it.
