Position Summary:
This position will manage BHA’s strategies around use of a wide range of social media, email, digital media, online advertising and other communication duties. The goal of this position is to deliver timely and engaging content to BHA’s members and supporters through a synchronized multi-channel communication strategy, which utilizes BHA’s social media channels, email system and website. The ideal applicant will work with a team of BHA staff and chapter leaders to use BHA’s communication tools to highlight BHA’s grassroots advocacy efforts while educating and engaging members in a way that will influence decision makers and donors. The ideal candidate must be able collaborate with a wide variety of staff members across the organization. He or she also must be able to work with little supervision as well as be flexible and organized in a fast-paced work environment. This position requires good judgment, analytical thinking, close attention to detail, preparation of timely and complete reports, adherence to standards of confidentiality and effective communications techniques.
Primary Responsibilities:
Digital Media
• Procure and manage engaging content on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram that reflects BHA’s values, work and mission
• Track social media statistics, including growth, reach, advertising spending and individual posts
• Manage digital and social media assets promotions and campaigns
• In coordination with other staff, build and manage social media advertisements and provide reports on ad performance as needed • Work with BHA chapters to utilize social media in a way that encourages members to engage in federal and state issues, while building a brand presence that reflects the local membership
• Market BHA events, merchandise and promotions on social media channels
• Work with other staff to promote BHA corporate partners per sponsorship agreements
• Identify and cultivate social leaders and influencers both within and outside of BHA
• Assist in the editing, production and promotion of BHA’s podcast
• Manage BHA’s YouTube channel; seek opportunities to expand
• Ensure BHA remains on the leading edge of use of new social and online engagement tools, such as Facebook Live
• Oversee BHA’s Google AdWords account to develop list of prospective members, sell merchandise and recruit new members
• Host chapter leader trainings on social and online communication tools
• Assist with coordinator use of BHA’s online action tools, such as Congressweb
Website and Email
• and integrate channels using email and social media communications, to include action alerts and press releases
• Under direction of BHA staff, utilize BHA’s website, email and text alerts to deploy timely, action-oriented messages as needed
• Work with BHA coordinators and volunteers to populate chapter websites and social media channels
• With other staff, manage delivery of online and email lead generation and membership development campaigns to expand BHA’s base of supporters and members
• Educate and engage BHA members and supporters on BHA’s work by managing regular online content through blog posts, and press releases
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications Required
• Entrepreneurial spirit
• Hunter or angler preferred
• Passion for BHA’s work and mission
• Experience managing email and social media campaigns
• Experience posting and curating website and email content
• Excellent time and project management skills and ability to multi task and prioritize work
• Attention to detail, including expert editing skills and familiarity with AP style
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Eagerness to learn, adapt and teach others about the use of new technologies
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information
• Ability to work with a diverse team, including some who work remotely
• Leadership and initiative
• Bachelor’s degree
• Capability to sit at a desk for extended periods working on computer. Lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 25 pounds
• Must have a valid driver’s license
Additional Experience Desired
• Understanding of or experience with HTML email and website coding
• Experience editing photography, audio content and/or video content
• Experience working with Facebook advertising platform
• Experience managing a website build Experience managing a CRM database
• Experience designing online and marketing materials with programs like Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or InDesign
