From World Cast Anglers:

It’s with the sincerest gratitude for his years of service that WorldCast Anglers (WCA) announces the resignation of Mike Dawes, WCA’s President.

Dawes joined WCA in 2001 as the Vice President of the company and moved into the role of President in 2006. Over the last 20 years, Dawes has been passionately committed to the growth of WCA, setting the precedent for management teams, professional guide standards, strategic travel, retail offerings and conservation in what has become one of the largest outfitters in the world. Dawes’s resignation is effective May 15th, 2021.

“As a founding member of WCA, Mike has built and leaves a spectacular legacy, heritage and culture that will forever be ingrained in WorldCast Anglers. We are incredibly grateful for his contributions that has helped everyone at WCA grow into who we are today; both as a professional leader as well as a personal friend,” says WCA Vice President Mike Dawkins. “We look forward to carrying on his legacy as we continue to grow and deliver exceptional service in our outfitting services, retail location, guide schools, destination travel services and conservation actions that is the WCA ethos.”

“WCA COO Chris Littauer reflects that “Mike Dawes is undoubtedly the most central and consistent figure in the growth and development of WorldCast Anglers as a company, brand and culture since he began working here in 2001. His devotion to this business and especially the people who work here and the guests we serve has set the standard for our industry and provides an inspiring blueprint and cultural tone for the future of the company. It goes without saying that he will be missed as a leader and more importantly as a friend and mentor but WCA has never been in a better position for this change. I wish Mike the best in his personal life and future endeavors and am most concerned for the Permit of the world who now have to reckon with Mike as an untethered angler, rather than a trip host!”

“Reflecting on where we were 20 years ago compared to where we are now as a company puts a smile on my face and makes my decision to step down more palatable. WCA has never been in a better place and I can’t wait to see what happens over the next 20 years!” added Dawes “I have an tremendous amount of gratitude for all of the people I have been fortunate to work with over the years, relationships that will last a lifetime, thank you!”

Dawes will transition into the role of a consultant for WCA and work closely with management to ensure the transition is seamless heading into the 2021 season.
