16 years ago, following Hurricane Katrina, the fly-community bonded in a relief effort to help guides and charter captains whose lives were upended by the storm. Guides from the East, West and Midwest donated one day of their guiding to a pool that was distributed among Gulf guides. We held an online auction. We raised about $100K and made a big impact.
