Earlier this year, Skwala came on the scene as the industry’s newest fly fishing apparel brand. Since then, the company has been making waves with its innovative products as it connects with more and more anglers across the US. Today the company announces the placement of Rich Hohne as Chief Marketing Officer at the upstart brand.
Rich comes to Skwala after 26 years in the outdoor industry with most of that time in the fly fishing space. He has been a fishing guide, lodge operator, fly shop employee and spent 11 years at Simms Fishing Products managing all levels of brand activity. This experience will be added to a Skwala team (led by industry stalwart Kevin Sloan) that has nearly 100 years of fly fishing industry experience.
“When looking at key members to build out the Skwala team, Rich has always been at the top of the list. His involvement in Skwala over the past 2 years as board member has been invaluable to our success right out of the gate,” said Sloan. “His experience with retailers, pros, and fly anglers across the world will be a huge benefit as we ramp up this brand.”
Rich will manage all aspects of the brand activity at Skwala, from building out the brand’s content and distribution strategies, to managing public relations and social media, to helping grow key channels like pro and guide. He will also play a key role in advising on the brand’s product roadmap going forward.
“Fly fishing is my number one passion in life and to be able to re-insert myself into this industry with a brand like Skwala is a very exciting opportunity,” says Hohne. “I have witnessed the excellent work this company has done for the past two years and I intend on adding as much as possible to help build the future.”
