Stand Up For Fly Fishing!

0

If you work in the fly fishing industry, your business depends on the fishing. Whether you’re manufacturing gear, or running guide trips, or selling flies, or providing food and lodging to anglers, solid fishing will help improve your bottom line.

On the flip side, poor fishing diminishes your profits and makes life harder for everyone.  That’s just the way it works.  Your livelihood relies on healthy fisheries that can attract anglers and support your business.

Which is why human-caused climate change is such a serious threat to our fly fishing.  Massive heat waves, huge storms, extreme wildfires, choking smoke and unprecedented flooding are all bad for our fishing and our fisheries.

You don’t have to be a scientist to understand that things are getting worse.  We just lived through 2023, which was the hottest year on record.  And sadly, the first eight months of 2024 have been even hotter.  If we want to hold on to our fishing, and protect our businesses, then we have to get our act together.

Fortunately, four talented and highly respected fly fishers — Craig Mathews, Tom Rosenbauer, Hilary Hutcheson and Kirk Deeter — just added their voices to a short public service announcement (PSA) pushing our legislators to do more on climate.  Please take a second to watch the new PSA — it’s only a minute and 34 seconds — and then share it far & wide on social media.
