  1. I was a rock climbing guide before I was a fly fishing guide, and I’m still working out my motivations in hindsight. It’s been said that climbing “is finding the most difficult way of going nowhere”.

    All of the aesthetic constraints that define fly fishing are what create value. Some things are worth doing precisely because they are difficult.
