The annual conference will be held at The Read House
in Chattanooga, Tenn., August 19-21

The Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) opened registration for the 2025 conference and discounted “early bird” pricing is available until April 15. Regular pricing will start on April 16 and registration will remain open until one week before the event.

Held in downtown Chattanooga, Tenn. at The Read House, the event will provide OWAA media members and supporting brands an opportunity to network with other professionals, find opportunities to sell work, receive instruction on a variety of topics, and hone communications skills. The downtown location will also give attendees an opportunity to explore all that Chattanooga has to offer.

The event includes pre- and post-tours for media, an editor’s panel, a marketplace, networking events, day trips for partners/spouses, storytelling events, and ‘deep-dive’ instructional workshops. The workshops are focused on professional development and will tackle such issues as journaling, finding clients, how to pitch stories, filmmaking, social media, getting a book published, podcasting and more.

“It’s always such a treat to bring our media members and supporting groups together, in-person,” said Chez Chesak, Executive director of the OWAA. “There’s just so much great energy, collaboration and partnerships that result and it’s just generally a total ‘win’ for the attendees.”

Keynote and breakout sessions will focus on a wide variety of timely and important topics, including:

  • Short-form, vertical video for social media
  • Discoverability for Outdoor Communicators
  • Simple technological solutions for communications challenges, and much more

The event will also have two awards nights, one to recognize OWAA’s most dedicated volunteer leaders and the other to recognize that year’s winners of the Excellence in Craft awards.

OWAA’s conference brings together world-class outdoor media, including writers, photographers, bloggers, podcasters, videographers and more, from a broad spectrum of outdoor specialties to learn, connect and discover all the outdoor offerings of the local hosts.
