By now you’ve probably heard the news that the Outdoor Retailer show has officially announced it is leaving Utah. That will bring to an end a lengthy relationship that by many accounts pumps $40 million every year into the Utah economy. Utah Governor Gary Herbert said he found the decision “offensive.”
Please read this editorial. It summarizes in a fair and professional manner how the economic dots are indeed very much connected.
We’ll all have to see what the future holds. Will this make a difference in Utahans’ attitudes toward public land policy and their elected officials? Maybe not. But I can assure you that there are other states lining up for an opportunity to put their best outdoors foot forward.
