From Simms:
Pushing the envelope of innovation and technology has always been the cornerstone of Simms’ product design process and with the debut of their Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 lines at this year’s ICAST and IFTD shows, Simms has once again taken the angler experience to a new level.
Simms newest array of product offerings spans across multiple categories, including waders, outerwear, sportswear, footwear and accessories. “I truly feel this is a pivotal moment in the history of Simms and I couldn’t be more excited about the course we’re on and the unwavering momentum I feel in every product meeting I attend,” says Simms President, K.C. Walsh. “The team has worked tirelessly to perfect every detail of the Spring 2018 and Fall 2017 line and I have no doubt their efforts will be realized every time these products are put to use by our consumers.”
For the Spring 2018 line launch (available November 2017), Simms took on the challenge of re-imagining the industry leading line of fly fishing gear with an all-new lineup of G3 Guide™ offerings. In the wader category, the company completely re-engineered the G3 Guide™ Men’s, Women’s and Pant stockingfoot waders, all boasting an improved fit and an entirely new GORE-TEX® 4-layer fabric that makes all the waders in this collection the most breathable waders ever built in Simms’ Bozeman, Montana facility.
Advances in the G3 Guide™ Collection can also be seen in the footwear category with a total revamp of the popular G3 Guide™ Boot. Available with Vibram® or Felt outsoles, the new G3 Guide™ Boot was designed for an improved fit and incorporates additional scratch rubber for enhanced durability as well as a cleat retention system wholly unique in the industry.
On the fishing jacket front, Simms took on an all-new thinking with the new G3 Guide™ Tactical Jacket. Constructed with GORE-TEX® fabric, the G3 Guide™ Tactical Jacket offers fishy features and stylings that will appeal to anglers of all levels. To round out the new and improved G3 Guide™ Collection, Simms conducted a complete overhaul of the G3 Guide™ Vest to offer more comfort, functionality and storage capacity than ever before.
Spring 2018 also brings with it a fresh new stylish and better fitting line of women’s sportswear designed by women anglers, built to fish in any condition. Based on a totally revamped fit profile, the women’s sportswear line includes the new Women’s Guide Skort and Women’s BiComp™ LS Shirt, both built with quick-drying, wicking, anti-odor and UPF 30 protection. The women’s line also includes the new Drifter Dress and Madeira Coverup that both offer on- and off-water style, performance and protection.
Footwear designed to perform on boat decks also gets an update in the Spring 2018 line with the all-new Challenger Mid Boat Shoe–Waterproof, a high abrasion-resistant, waterproof boot that sets a new standard in athletic fishing footwear. The footwear line also brought in the Challenger Pull On Boot, available in a 9” and 14” grid-fleece lined offering. All of these boots are powered by Simms Right Angle® Footbed designed to put your feet in the proper position and reduce back, knee and foot fatigue.
Finally, in the packs and bag category, Simms upped the ante with a new collection of Dry Creek® Z Packs which includes a backpack, hip pack and sling pack all built with submersible one-way TIZIP® zippers and highly durable and waterproof 500D Double Sided TPU-Coated textured Nylon. The Dry Creek® Z Collection provides total water protection for the most critical fishing gear.
“The Simms Product Team really knocked it out of the park with the new 2018 line,” says Fred Dennis, Simms’ Sr. Director of Apparel Design & Development. “Leading with the re-thinking of the industry’s leading line of performance fishing gear—G3 Guide™ Collection—and a whole new women’s line, we are excited for anglers to see what we have painstakingly designed, built and tested.”
Simms is also showcasing the soon-to-be-released Fall 2017 line at the fishing industry shows. Two Bozeman, Montana-made bootfoot waders, the G4Z® Bootfoot and ExStream™ Bootfoot (both available in Vibram® and Felt) lead the charge. The G4Z® Bootfoot features a 3-layer GORE-TEX® Pro Shell upper and 5-layer GORE-TEX® Pro Shell in the legs and seat and is bolstered by custom boots powered by Simms Right Angle® Footbed specifically designed for Simms Bootfoot Waders. This marks the first time the pinnacle Simms wader—featuring a waterproof YKK® front zipper and their most advanced features—is available as a bootfoot. The ExStream™ Bootfoot features the same fabric and boot technology as the G4Z®, but is most notably distinct due to its black fabric and hex camo pockets on the upper portion of the wader.
In the Outerwear Category, Simms Fall 2017 line features the Contender Insulated Jacket and Bib, both of which utilize 2-layer GORE-TEX® fabric and Primaloft® Gold Insulation to ensure anglers stay in the moment during cold and wet conditions. The jacket and bib come fully loaded with popular Simms features including a shingle cuff design, zippered chest pockets, microfleece lined hand-warmer pockets and a tuck-away, 3-point adjustable storm hood in the jacket and YKK® AquaGuard® Vislon center-front zipper in the bib.
Keeping the necessities protected and dry was a huge initiative for the Fall 2017 line which can be seen in an all-new line of Dry Creek™ packs and bags which includes duffels, boat bags, roll-tops, as well as a backpack and hip-pack to round out this rugged collection. With this new collection, anglers can wade deep and withstand torrential downpours with confidence.
These are only a few highlights of the Fall 2017, and Spring 2018 product lines. Be sure to swing by the Simms Booth (4549) at ICAST/IFTD 2017 being held July 12-14 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
