Redington is also a strong player in that price range, and the company has come to IFTD with a new Crux series that it says rivals the best product (rod-wise) it has ever produced. Looking at the finish and components, it’s hard to argue that. Launched recently at the European Fishing Tackle Trade Expo, Crux is a lightweight design, with finer diameter blanks, and a more dense cork grip. What does that mean? It’s a line speed monster. Fast action. It generates momentum, and the blank recovery is such that the rod excels not only at distances, but also in tight quarters where accuracy is at a premium. Retail is $400.
