FROM USAC:
This Thursday, June 27th, Summit County will be hosting a public meeting to discuss the recent Utah Supreme Court decision Utah Stream Access Coalition v. Orange Street Development, angler access and private property rights. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m.
Members of the board of directors will be in attendance, but it will be critically important that our members’ voices are heard at this meeting. If our recent victory on the Weber is important to you, please attend the meeting on June 27th and give your informed opinion on the matter. It is critical that this dialogue be respectful and constructive; USAC and all of its members have worked very hard to get where we are, and we want to support an open dialogue among all stakeholders.
PROVO UPDATE
On May 31, 2019, Judge Pullan ordered that discovery will be re-opened in the Provo case. This is a huge victory for USAC, and with this order our experts will begin the research process in earnest. Although we did not get the decision we hoped for from the Utah Supreme Court in February, we are now focused on addressing the “threshold issues” outlined by the Court in its opinion.
Additionally, members of the board will be meeting with state legislators, and other interested parties to discuss potential compromise language on July 10, 2019. We are very excited for this opportunity.
USAC would not be here without our members. We have been given the green light to move forward on the Provo case, and have another great opportunity to address our legislators directly with regard to our concerns about stream access. Our experts and historians have been retained thanks to all of the donations and efforts of our members, but we all know these costs will not end here. Donations of time, money, effort and services will hopefully push us over the finish line in the near future, so please support our continuing fight. Thank you for what you have helped us achieve, and here’s to what we have to look forward to!
