From Pure Fishing:
Fenwick®, and Pflueger® introduce five new fly fishing products for 2019. The 2019 fly fishing line-up integrates new technology for high strength and lightweight performance fly rods and lightweight best-in-class durable fly reels. Pflueger introduces its highest quality fly reel, the Supreme Fly Reel and Fenwick introduces Fenlite® rods with 3M Powerlux® 1000 Nano resin technology.
The new Fenwick Fenlite fly rod collection is now constructed with 3M Powerlux 1000 Nano resin to improve the strength of the rods by 30 percent* without sacrificing performance or increasing the weight of the rods. The Fenlite rods come standard with a AAA cork handle and four-piece construction.
“The addition of the new 3M Powerlux 1000 Nano resin technology to all of our Fenlite rods gives our flagship fly rods more strength and durability,” said Andrew Wheeler, global brand director for Fenwick. “Our new stronger, lightweight rods give anglers more confidence to chase the biggest fish in the water.”
Fenwick’s flagship fast action rod, the Fenlite Fly rod, is developed for stream and large river fishing and performs well in windy conditions. Available in single-hand models in 5-weight through 8-weight sizes, and double-hand models in 7- and 8-weights, the rod retails for $324.95 to $449.
For the river angler in need of a fast recovering, smooth, medium-fast action, Fenwick Fenlite Streamflex fly rods are ideal for dry fly to heavy nymphing. The Streamflex fly rods feature a high modulus 3M Powerlux carbon blank for high strength and lightweight performance, and a machined aluminum uplocking reel seat with Maple Burl spacer. Streamflex rods retail from $299.95 to $349.95.
The Streamflex series also includes the new Streamflex Plus, a fly rod offering a fast/medium-fast action and an extension built into the rod. The Streamflex Plus boasts a patented six-inch extension stored in the handle of the rod, allowing anglers to change from a fast action dry fly rod to a deeper action nymphing rod without the need to change reel and line. The new Streamflex Plus retails for $379.95.
Not to be left out, saltwater fly anglers have a new option in the Fenlite collection. Saltwater environments can be harsh on fly rods, which is why the Fenwick Fenlite Salt Fly Rods are designed to withstand corrosion. Also, constructed with high modulus 3M Powerlux carbon fiber, these rods offer a fast action and give anglers the power and strength required to chase large saltwater gamefish. The Fenlite Salt Fly rods are available in 7- to 12-weight options and retail from $349.95 to $369.95.
Pflueger offers a new reel to pair with the new Fenwick fly rods. The Supreme Fly Reel from Pflueger is the reel for any scenario. This flagship fly reel is made with full bar stock construction in a large arbor format for quick line retrieval, and centralized fully sealed twin Rulon® disc drag system. Strong, but surprisingly lightweight, the Supreme Fly Reel is available in five sizes to accommodate lines from 2-weight to 12-weight, as well as Spey and shooting heads. The new reel retails from $249.95 to $289.95.
The new Fenlite rods and Pflueger Supreme Fly Reel are now available in retail stores and online at FenwickFishing.com and PfluegerFishing.com
