Last week, the Army Corps announced their next steps for the final development of the new lake operations plan (LOSOM).
They clarified that in the next phase of the process, “optimization,” they would be focusing on goals like addressing the stress to the Caloosahatchee and sending more water south, among others.
They also reiterated that they appreciated the feedback they’d received from stakeholders so far—particularly noting the 9,000 emails you all sent—but added that they need to continue receiving more feedback throughout this final phase.
Although the Corps did commit to addressing those damaging discharges to the Caloosahatchee, it wasn’t clear to what extent. Colonel Kelly paved a decent path forward with his next steps, but we must tell him and the Corps how far to go. Email them today!
