From Captains for Clean Water:
Earlier today, we officially submitted a veto request to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The request is to veto a specific section in the proposed state budget that would limit municipal rainy season fertilizer bans.
Fertilizer bans of varying degrees are used by municipalities during the rainy season to curb nutrient pollution, which can fuel harmful algal blooms like red tide and blue-green algae. This provision in the budget would place certain restrictions on the bans to facilitate a study by UF’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Services.
