The latest loss was fly innovator and author of Pop Fleyes Bob Popovics, who died November 1 after initially having been the victim of a hit-and-run accident in Seaside Heights, N.J. on September 23. Bob sustained severe internal injuries and battled to recover, but ultimately succumbed to those injuries. The suspect has been apprehended.

Popovics’ influence on saltwater fly tying was immeasurable, and his patterns are among the favorites used to chase a wide range of species in every ocean around the world. Angling Trade expresses its sincere condolences to Bob’s family and many friends. He was well-respected, admired, and will be sorely missed.
