BOZEMAN, Montana (for immediate release) – Some of the best fishing guides in the country will converge in Bozeman, Mont., Apr. 19-21 for Simms Fishing Products’ third annual “Simms ICE OUT Guide Event,” a three-day workshop crafted to equip the hardest working people in fly fishing with knowledge and tactics needed to make the 2012 fishing season better than any season before.
The ICE OUT Guide Event features seminars on environmental issues, business development, new products and marketing strategies designed specifically for fishing guides. Also included in the weekend are social gatherings, a product sale including a number of attending companies, opportunities for networking, some swag, opportunities to provide Simms with product feedback, and the second-annual “Guide Olympics” where competitors will test their casting, rod rigging and trailer-backing skills.
Hall of Fame basketball coach Bobby Knight, a three-time NCAA champion and long-time angler, will lead a presentation on the opening evening of ICE OUT. His “Perspective from the Front Seat” discussion will give guides an unfiltered look at the fishing experience from that of a client. Other guest speakers for the weekend included renowned fly tyer Dave Whitlock, author John Gierach, Simms founder John Simms and Trout Unlimited President & CEO Chris Wood.
Fishing guides of all stripes who are members of the Simms Pro Program, including Simms Authorized Dealer staff, are invited to attend the weekend of professional development in Bozeman. Simms has arranged for discounted room rates at a number of Bozeman hotels and there is no charge for the event.
