(Idaho Falls, ID) – RIO Products announces a new addition to its Scandinavian Spey shooting head series with the Steelhead Scandi Shooting Heads. To keep in line with RIO’s tradition of bringing only the best in quality lines to improve fishing experiences, the Steelhead Scandi line is designed for the shorter two handed and switch rods used by many steelhead fly anglers.
The Steelhead Scandi heads are designed with a shorter overall length (between 31 ft and 34 ft) than most Scandinavian style shooting heads, which makes them exceptionally easy to cast – for all skill levels, and for tight casting situations. The heads feature a short front taper and, with more weight distributed towards the front, make casting larger steelhead flies and sinking VersiLeaders much easier. The heads were designed by well-respected guide and casting legend John Hazel, who saw the need for a series of heads that were carefully selected, designed and tuned for the most common rods used by modern steelhead anglers. These floating lines range from 310 grain through 550 grains and feature RIO’s new skinny welded loop at each end for extremely easy rigging.
“For the ultimate in butter-smooth casting, tight loops and a head that loads quicker and deeper with modern steelhead rods, we created the Steelhead Scandi Shooting Head,” comments RIO’s Simon Gawesworth. “These floating heads are perfect for 11 to 13 foot rods and come in nine sizes to cover a large range of needs.”
The Steelhead Scandi Shooting Heads retail for $49.95 and come in an ivory color.
