There are few in our sport who don’t know of Bob Popovics.
For the past 40 years his dedication to the promotion of saltwater fly fishing has been as significant as his accomplishments at the vise. He has taught many thousands how to improve their game with his writing, casting tips and compelling videos. Please join us in welcoming Bob to our Advisory Staff.
Lefty has lauded Bob as the most innovative fly tier he has ever known and few would disagree. From his late 1970s introduction of Surf Candy patterns to his partnership with Ed Jaworowski in the co-authored “Pop Fleyes,” published in 2001. Bob’s creations at the vise have fooled many fish and inspired many anglers to join the sport of fly fishing. His work has been featured in all major fly fishing publications and periodicals.
Bob’s personal appearances at national consumer and industry events continue to provide first-hand advice to beginners and experts alike. The casting skills Bob has refined are the result of his extensive experiences with both fly and light tackle throughout Europe, North and South America and on his home waters of New Jersey.
Bob has agreed to be involved in the design of our rods and related products, to assist in developing casting schools and educational programs and to participate in general business planning for TFO. We are delighted and honored to have him join our team.
