Fishing Guide – Chelatna Lake Lodge (Remote Alaska)
Location: Chelatna Lake Lodge, just south of Denali National Park, Alaska
Position Type: Seasonal, Full-time (June 8, 2025 – September 15, 2025)
Overview:
Chelatna Lake Lodge, a premier remote Alaskan lodge nestled at the foot of Denali National Park, is seeking an experienced and passionate Fishing Guide to join our team for the summer season. Accessible only by airplane, our lodge offers breathtaking views of the Alaska Range and provides guests with exclusive fishing experiences on Chelatna Lake.
About Us:
Chelatna Lake Lodge offers an intimate Alaskan retreat for up to 16 guests, providing a range of adventure activities, including world-class fishing. We pride ourselves on offering a memorable experience in the heart of Alaska’s wilderness with excellent accommodations, stunning views, and exceptional hospitality.
Responsibilities:
Guide guests on fishing trips around Chelatna Lake and Lake Creek river ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and successful fishing experience.
Provide expert knowledge of local fish species, techniques, and conservation practices.
Assist guests in rod handling, casting, and safely catching and releasing fish.
Ensure all equipment is maintained and ready for use.
Share knowledge about the Alaskan wilderness, flora and fauna.
Foster a welcoming, friendly environment for guests and collaborate with fellow staff members to ensure a seamless guest experience.
Maintain safety and operational standards, including emergency preparedness.
Perform various outdoor chores around the lodge, including maintaining pathways, cleaning boats, and assisting with other tasks to keep the lodge in top shape.
Manage and maintain the hot tub and sauna, ensuring they are clean, operational, and ready for guests to enjoy.
Assist with lodge operations when not guiding, helping with daily tasks to ensure a smooth guest experience.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a fishing guide, particularly in remote or wilderness settings.
Strong knowledge of Alaskan freshwater species, such as sockeye salmon, trout, and grayling.
Ability to work in a physically demanding, outdoor environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with guests of all skill levels.
Wilderness first aid or equivalent certification is preferred.
